At just three years old, I fled Vietnam with my parents and three siblings, becoming part of the 'boat people'—refugees who risked everything on overcrowded vessels in search of freedom and opportunity. We arrived in Thailand and lived in a refugee camp for two years before being accepted into America, where we settled in Chinatown with my grandparents.

They operated a pharmacy and practiced traditional Chinese medicine, deeply influencing my upbringing. Growing up in these immigrant communities, I witnessed how entrepreneurship transformed lives, as small businesses became lifelines for families striving to build new futures. These experiences planted the seeds for my own entrepreneurial journey.

After a few years, we moved into public housing on the Eastside of Los Angeles. My parents worked for my grandparents, and I would go there after school. Shortly after our move, my mom had my baby sister.
